I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No.44873/1925 of the 26th ultimo regarding the amounts due to Hong Kong University

from various Governments in China, and to request you to

inform the Secretary of State for the Colonies that the letter, with its enclosures, will be brought to the notice

of the Boxer Indemnity Advisory Committee.

2. Whilst it seems not unlikely that the Committee

will take a favourable view of Sir R. Stubb's suggestion,

no immediate relief can be e xpected since, in view of the unsettled state of China, a considerable time rust elapse

before the Committee will be in a position to submit

definite recommendations for the allocation of the indemnity

funds.

I am, & c.,

(Sga) S. P. WATERLOW.

The Under Secretary of State

Colonial Office.
